Effects of Polyethylene Terephthalate and Crumb Rubber on Selected Properties of Asphaltic Concrete

This study investigated the combined effects of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and crumb rubber (CR) as modifiers on some properties asphaltic concrete. Asphaltic concrete materials were obtained from a construction site. CR 9.5 mm size was by sieving, while PET bottles collected, sorted, washed, dried shredded mechanical means. The physical these determined following standard procedure. Bitumen modified wet process with characterised. samples partial replacement coarse aggregate in mix prepared. Samples without also prepared control. These subjected to Marshall Stability test. percentage variation for stability flow between control mixes, 27 % 0.29 respectively, those volumetric bulk density, voids filled bitumen (VFB), air (VA) mineral (VMA) 0 %, - 0.13 respectively. It concluded that, there no difference mixes.
